RSQ3 - From Regular Traffic to 'Mini Urus'

The Audi RSQ3 is a true underdog in the mini SUV segment, offering a thrilling driving experience that rivals much larger performance vehicles. With its iconic five-cylinder petrol engine and a dynamic interior, the RSQ3 delivers all the punch of the RS3.

We had the pleasure of personalising this particular RSQ3 to reflect our customer's unique vision while also incorporating our expert recommendations. Every bit of chrome and silver on the body has been removed, creating a sleek, more aggressive look. A Maxton Design 'low line' kit was added to enhance the car's stance, and the wheels were powder-coated in a striking gloss black finish, complemented by a set of wheel spacers. The finishing touch? A 20mm drop courtesy of Eibach, which perfectly complements the vehicle’s bold new appearance.

Dechroming and Customisation: A Tailored Approach

Many manufacturers offer a "dechrome" option straight from the factory, often called a "Night Pack," "Shadow Line," or something similar. However, this particular RSQ3 didn’t come with that option, so we took it upon ourselves to give it the full treatment. Depending on the part being dechromed, we use different methods to achieve a seamless look. For body parts with a satin or gloss finish (as opposed to textured surfaces), we use an ultra-high-gloss vehicle wrap. This method allows us to overlay the existing parts with a smooth, sleek finish. One of the major benefits of this process is the quick turnaround time and its reversibility—should the wrap ever need to be removed, it leaves no trace behind. Plus, it offers the added advantage of protecting the underlying surface.

Rear Diffuser Respray: A Customised Touch

When it came to the rear diffuser, Maxton Design unfortunately doesn’t offer a direct replacement for this model, so we came up with a solution to maintain the cohesive look. We recommended removing the grey, textured plastic diffuser and respraying it to match the rest of the Maxton Design low-line kit and the dechromed bodywork. This would not only create a uniform aesthetic but also tie in perfectly with the gloss black rear bumper side splitters we planned to fit.

Wheels and Exhaust Tips: A Complete Transformation

Next up was the final silver accents—the wheels and exhaust tips. For the wheels, we always use powder coating as the standard process. This ensures a long-lasting, fade-resistant finish that holds up well to the elements. Similarly, the exhaust tips, which are exposed to similar heat cycles and road grime, are powder-coated as well. This approach is far more durable than painting, providing a clean, uniform look while also ensuring longevity.

Maxton Design: A precision perfect fit

The Maxton Design kit we fitted on the RSQ3 includes a front splitter, side skirt extensions, rear spoiler cap, and rear bumper side splitters, all designed to enhance the aesthetics of the car. What sets these kits apart is the precision with which they are made.

Each Maxton Design bodykit is 3D scanned and custom-developed for specific car models, ensuring a perfect fit. We use a wide range of high-quality fixings to guarantee the strongest, most secure installation possible, so you can drive with confidence. We're so sure of the durability and quality of our work that we offer a lifetime fitting warranty on all the kits we supply and install. The finished result? A stunning, aggressive look that ties in perfectly with the final two upgrades we had planned for this project.

Lowering Springs & Wheel Spacers: A Subtle Yet Effective Upgrade

Once the bodykit was in place, it was time to address the arch gap. As accredited suppliers and fitters of Eibach springs, among other leading suspension brands, we were excited to give this car a more aggressive stance. The customer wanted a subtle yet practical drop—nothing too extreme, just enough to improve the vehicle’s look while maintaining its everyday usability.

To achieve this, we installed 20mm Eibach lowering springs and wheel spacers on all four corners. The advantage of lowering springs is that they allow the car to retain its original adaptive suspension, which would be lost if you opt for coilovers. This means you can still enjoy the benefits of a lowered ride height without sacrificing comfort, performance or the suspension stiffness setting the car offers from factory.
