Engine tuning and performance upgrades have a long tradition at AC Schnitzer. To be on the safe side, we forgo achieving the possible maximum power in favor of greater durability. Many of our performance upgrades are therefore designed to increase torque rather than horsepower. After all, torque is what you feel when, for example, you are "pressed into your seats" when moving off. Petrol The performance upgrade consists of a control unit for retrofitting in the vehicle. The control unit ensures that the data is processed depending on the engine speed and accelerator pedal position, and that the values ??for boost pressure, rail pressure and air mass are passed on to the standard engine control unit. The parameters are slightly increased by the AC Schnitzer performance upgrade. This achieves a model-dependent power increase of up to 20% of the engine and increases engine efficiency. During development, we check in which engine speed range the greatest increase in torque is achieved. Subsequently, the modified parameters are reduced in a controlled manner for the high-rev range above 5000 rpm. This prevents the engine from overheating during longer, fast journeys. The standard engine protection parameters are retained with the AC Schnitzer performance upgrade. In addition, the AC Schnitzer performance upgrade also features extensive additional parameters to protect the engine and drivetrain, such as cold start and overheat control.

Cold start control
The AC Schnitzer performance upgrades are only activated from approx. 1000 rpm and an oil temperature of 80° C.

Overload / overheating control
The power is automatically reduced to the standard power when the water temperature reaches 115°C.

Extensively tested
AC Schnitzer performance upgrades undergo extensive testing on racetracks, test benches, and in everyday road traffic. These tests last up to nine months and cover several tens of thousands of kilometers.

Performance upgrade installed - what about the warranty?
For all AC Schnitzer performance upgrades, AC Schnitzer provides a country-dependent warranty of up to 5 years from the date of first registration, with a mileage of up to 120,000 km, on the components moved by the engine. For M models, AC Schnitzer provides this country-dependent warranty of up to 4 years from the date of first registration and up to 80,000 km. This gives you peace of mind in the event of a problem. Appraise
The parts certificate is an official document that permits the use of tuning parts on public roads under the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations) in Germany (and several other countries). After the part described in the certificate has been installed or modified, the vehicle must be presented to an official inspection center. The inspector will verify the correct installation and authenticity of the part and then enter the modification in the vehicle documents. The vehicle's official operating license thus remains valid. The parts certificate is part of the delivery package.
