Philosophy/Design
The wheels establish a car's connection to the road not only physically but also visually. "That's why the right proportions of the rims to the body are so important," explains AC Schnitzer Chief Designer Michele Viandante. "Wheels that are too small can quickly make a vehicle appear long-legged and unstable." The AC3 Flowforming rims achieve what initially seems contradictory: reducing weight while simultaneously increasing the wheel diameter. The AC3 Flowforming rims measure 9 or 10 x 21 inches. They are available in three color variants: black, bicolor silver/anthracite, or matt anthracite. Visually, the rims are clearly part of the AC3 rim family and complement the portfolio in terms of size, application areas, and manufacturing processes. The lower weight of the AC3 Flowforming rims reduces the vehicle's unsprung mass by approximately 10 kg, thereby also lowering the vehicle's CO2 emissions. At the same time, there's also a noticeable improvement in driving dynamics, as the centrifugal forces on the axles are reduced by approximately four times – a perceived 40 kg. The AC Schnitzer AC3 Flowforming wheels therefore offer real advantages: for the driver and the environment.

Only high-quality aluminum alloys are used. The material is additionally heat-treated during the production process, resulting in increased strength while simultaneously reducing weight. Material samples are taken during the manufacturing process to ensure consistent, high quality.

production
The flowforming process is one of the most advanced manufacturing technologies in the wheel industry. In this production process, after the actual aluminum casting, the raw product is further processed by rolling it out. This step serves to compact the metal, which guarantees greater stability and impact resistance of the rim. On the other hand, the improved stability also allows for even more intricate wheel designs, as the wall thicknesses can be significantly thinner than those of conventionally manufactured rims. And this is measurable: compared, for example, with the BMW "Double Spoke 706 M" forged wheel for the M5, which, at 10.5J x 20", is even one inch smaller than the new AC3 Flowforming wheels, these are 2.4 kg and 2.5 kg lighter, respectively, than the BMW rim.

Surface Black
In this process, the wheel is first primed and then completely painted. A two-layer clear coat is then applied, consisting of a polyester primer and an acrylic clear coat.

Test procedures / safety
After their design, the first sample rims are manufactured under real production conditions. These must undergo a multitude of tests. Among other things, their strength is tested. The bending test simulates the "rim lifespan." Every AC Schnitzer rim must survive this lifespan unscathed in order to be produced and sold. Vehicle-specific tests, including test installations with clearance measurements and driving tests on public roads and racetracks, follow. Only after these procedures do our rims receive homologation, i.e., approval for use on public roads. Wheels are safety-critical components. Therefore, they are inspected and tested with the utmost care. This begins with initial chemical material tests and concludes with rigorous endurance tests on test machines: - §30 StVZO wheel guidelines - ECE R124 - Bending tests - 90° impact test - Rolling tests
